Low DM grass (30%) need a RAPID pH drop to preserve the nutrients, such as sugar and protein. The lower the DM, the lower the drop in pH required to ensure stable silage.
When a rapid pH drop is achieved, it is not only beneficial for nutrient preservation, but also for a reduction in the anaerobic bacteria that cause secondary fermentation and butyric silage.
Axphast gold is recommended for low dry matter legumes and big bale silage, and minimum wilt, wet grass including young, lush forages with variable (down to 0.5%) sugar levels.
