Dairy
Feeding wet acidic grass silage to dairy cows means dairy cows are prone to problems such as acidosis, laminitis and poor feed intake resulting in low milk yield, low milk protein and fertility problems. Supplementing with acidic feeds such as brewer's grains can make matters worse.
Valuable feeds such as cereals, whether fed rolled, crimped or combined with wet grass silage can increase acid loading in the rumen.
Feeding live yeast in any of these circumstances helps to remove lactic acid from the rumen, as well as preventing the over production of lactic acid, thereby maintaining rumen pH and avoiding ruminal lactic acid buildup from feeding.
Biotal has developed a range of rumen specific yeast products with the live yeast CNCM I -1077 for improvements in rumen health and productivity to suit different forages.
