Technical
Biotal Limited incorporates a renowned and long-established technical department which is located at its headquarters in Cardiff, Wales.
It accommodates a fully equipped, ISO 9001:2008 accredited Research & Development and Quality Control Laboratory which operates at Biological Safety Level two. The laboratories have been purpose-built to take advantage of Biotal’s many years of experience in microbiology, biochemistry and chemistry, and uphold Biotal’s longstanding commitment to quality.
Since Biotal’s inception in 1983 their laboratories have yielded an extensive portfolio of highly specialised microorganisms.
These environmentally important strains have been discovered by extensively screening for characteristics such as enzyme production and growth rate as well as the ability to operate over a range of temperatures, pH and other environmental factors.
Biotal uses only harmless, naturally-occurring, non-genetically modified microorganisms in its technologies. Their classification as Biological Safety Level 1 organisms certifies that they have a long history of safe use and are harmless to humans, animals and plants.
Biotal’s scientists have optimised the varied and broad range of metabolic activities represented by their collection of bacteria for use in a spectrum of commercial applications ranging from drainage and wastewater treatment right through to silage improvement and animal feed enhancement.
